Online on Telegram
Since version 5.6.1 of Telegram, we can see from the chat screen and share menu, which of our contacts is online. These are displayed with a green dot at the bottom right of your profile image, as shown in the image at the top of this article.
Before, to see if a person was online we had to enter the chat we had with them. Also, from the list of contacts we could see who was. Under her name was the text “Online.”
Now, as we have said, we can see it more directly from the screen where we all normally access Telegram. The chat room.
If being so exposed bothers you and you don't want anyone to see that green dot, here's how to make it disappear.
How to prevent the green dot from appearing that reveals that you are online on Telegram:
To deactivate this function we must do the following:
- Access Telegram settings.
- Click on the "Privacy and security" option.
- Press on “Last time and online”.
- Select "Nobody".
By doing this we will prevent anyone from being able to see us online in any way. The green dot will never appear and neither will the text "Online" under our name.
Green dot that reveals that you are online
We will only show that we are "online" when we are chatting with a contact, but you must be chatting. We will only appear online to him while we are in the conversation and write to him. When leaving the chat, possibly in the chat list, the green dot will appear on our profile photo, only the contact with whom we have chatted, for 10-15 seconds. After that time, we will not show that information again.
This has a setback. By deactivating the "Last seen and online" and not showing it to anyone, we will not be able to know which contacts are online. This means that we will not see the green dot in any of the profile photos of the chats that we have open and we will not be able to see the text "Online" in the contacts section either.
We can only have access to that information, as we have commented previously, while we are talking with that person and they are online in the same chat and whenever they write to us.
