More ads on iPhone and iPad?
For some time, when doing certain searches in the App Store, we can see some sponsored apps that are classified as Ads by App Store itself and that appear as the first result in the search.
This is because for some time now the Ads and sponsored apps have been present within the App Store. And it's because these sponsored apps allow Apple to generate revenue by promoting themselves in the app store.
Apple may include sponsored content in the native Maps, Podcasts or Music apps
Not only are they present in the App Store, but also in the app Noticias or News (not available in Spain) and in Stocks app. But, apparently, Apple would be considering that the ads appear in more apps than the devices natively include.
As has been reported, Apple is currently testing this option in the Maps iOS app. The way in which these ads would be shown to users would be through the recommendations in the Maps.
Personalized recommendations on the App Store
That is to say, if we carried out a search that was not specific, such as Restaurants or Cafeterias, Maps would initially and prominently show us those sponsored establishments that were "advertising" in the application.
Also, from the looks of things and expectations, these new announcements could also spread to more Native apps. Among them, for example, the app Books, as well as Podcasts and Music, working in the same way as previously indicated, such as sponsored content.
The truth is that, taking into account the devices, appearing in native apps can be somewhat annoying. We'll see if Apple finally implements this and, if it does, if it does so while respecting users' privacy.
