Fixed privacy issue
WhatsApp has been making different improvements and adding functions to increase the privacy of users who make constant use of the app. Among them, for example, we find the possibility of sending a photo or video so that it can only be seen once or the possibility of activating temporary chats.
These last ones allow us to configure the chats, either individually or all those that we start once configured, so that the messages and multimedia content contained in them are deleted after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days.
But these temporary chats had a privacy issue. And it is that, although they were activated, the multimedia content continued to be downloaded. That is, if the user who received photos or videos had automatic downloads activated, the multimedia content (photos, videos) was downloaded directly to the user's Photos app.
Photos and videos will no longer be automatically saved in temporary WhatsApp chats
This made the privacy of this feature quite questionable. Mainly because it was designed to offer more privacy when using it. But now, from WhatsApp they have put a solution to this problem.
From now on, even if the user has activated the autosave of multimedia content, the content received in temporary chats will not be saved. And therefore, the content will be deleted in the period of time selected for the chat.
Temporary messages in chats
The WhatsApp app itself will notify you that the purpose of temporary chats is to delete messages. And that, for this reason, the autosave of photos and videos will not work in said chats and for the content to be saved, the temporality of the chats will have to be deactivated.
This is, without a doubt, quite an effective measure to maintain privacy in these chats, but one that, without a doubt, should have been implemented from the beginning.
