Mac Studio
The Mac Studio, presented in the last Keynote of March 8, is a computer tower similar to the Mac mini but a bit bigger. It is full of USB C, USB A, Ethernet ports, Micro SD card reader and mini Jack, which is focused on audiovisual professionals. As its own name indicates, to those who work in a studio.
There are two versions. The one that has an M1 Max chip, the result is very similar to that obtained with a MacBook Pro and the one that brings with it the new M1 Ultra chip, which is two M1 Max chips joined together They say that the Max is really fast, it flies. The truth is that I have tried both and I have not noticed the difference, since my work is very basic and I do not put the computer to the limit.
A few hours with Mac Studio makes me want it:
For a couple of hours, three at the most, I was able to test a Mac Studio with M1 Ultra , connected to a Studio DisplayMy opinion is very simple and very sincere: if your job is normal and you don't have a MacBook Pro and you do have €4,000, I recommend the Mac StudioIf you have a MacBook Pro, unless you have the money to spare, you don't need it. If you are an architect or work in a recording or film studio and need a lot, buy the Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra and you won't regret it.
I recommend it but not the Studio Display, really. They are almost €2,000, in its basic configuration, with many limited compatibilities and for half you have much more complete desktop computer screens. It also looks very good, but not spectacularly good, for what it costs.
In short, after having tried both the Mac Studio and the Studio Display for a while, I came to the conclusion that the Mac Studio is a real barbarity that I recommend, although if you don't need the highest speeds I recommend the basic configuration with M1 Max. The Studio Display, I do not recommend it under any circumstances. There are better monitors on the market and cheaper. It costs more than an iMac and has less stuff.
Are you thinking of buying either of the two?
