How to photograph the stars
How many times have you wanted to photograph the moon, the stars and the iPhone has prevented you from capturing them? And we say prevented because either the image darkens a lot, or it blurs, or it doesn't capture what we want to photograph. It has happened to us many times. Today we will tell you how to photograph the stars using a photography application that allows us to manually configure the snapshot capture.
There are many apps of this type, but we have opted for MuseCam. It works quite well.
If you have an iPhone 11, 11 PRO or 11 PRO Max, or higher, you'll love the following way to photograph the stars and, what's more, it's done from the same iPhone camera. More info in this iOS tutorial.
How to photograph the stars, moon, sun in the best possible way, with an iPhone:
In this video we show you how to focus on the moon to take a photo with this app:
It's very simple. By having the possibility of being able to manually modify the ISO, the shutter and the focus of the photograph, it will allow us to make a good capture of the celestial body that we want to photograph.
Set the app properly
To photograph stars or the moon, in the middle of the night, we must do the following:
- Press the ISO option and move the scroll that appears at the bottom of the image, to the highest possible value.
- After this, we press the shutter button, located to the left of the ISO button. We move the scroll to position 1/4
- Then we press the focus option. This is to the left of the shutter button. We move the scroll until we have focused on the star, moon
- The WB button can also be configured to obtain a clearer image of the image, adding warm or cold colors to it.
None of the options should be configured, in AUTO. We also advise that you have to have a very good pulse. By having the shutter so open, a slight movement causes the photo to come out blurry. The best thing, in these circumstances, is to use some kind of support.
After having the celestial body in focus, press the red button and take the photo.
Here is a photo in which the Orion constellation appears and taken following the tutorial that we have told you about.
Stars photographed from an iPhone
We recommend, after capturing it, that you use a photo editor to darken the image a bit, especially in places with a lot of light pollution.
Photographing the sun with iPhone:
Knowing how each of the functions that this app has works, we can deduce that to take a good capture of the sun, we must do the opposite of what we have done to take a photo of the stars or moon.
We must take the ISO, and the shutter option, to the opposite position to the one we have taken to take a photo in the middle of the night.
