Widgets are coming to Google Maps
If there was a feature that caused a sensation among many of the users of iPhone when it was released iOS 14 it was the possibility of adding widgets to our home screen. And it is that these small “parts of the apps” went a long way.
Right from the start there were tons of apps that were released and started adding their own widgets to iOS 14. And today we know that, thanks to its latest update, an app widely used by many, Google Maps, also includes them.
At the moment Google Maps has only two widgets, but both are very useful:
The widgets added by Maps are a total of two, one of small size and one of medium size. And each of them has its own utility. The little one on it calls “Before You Go”, and is used to check the latest traffic status, location information, store hours, bar and restaurant reviews, and more.

For its part, the medium-sized widget has a different utility. It is called “Search nearby sites” and, as its name suggests, it will allow us to search for different places and places near where we are.
Among them we can directly access the search for restaurants or gas stations near our location and access all the information regarding them, such as reviews, photos and hours.
The Search Nearby Widget
As we say, at the moment there are only two widgets in two sizes. But as you can see in the update note, it looks like it's just the first set of widgets coming to the app, so there's a good chance we'll see more in the future.
The arrival of these widgets to Google Maps seems like great news to us, and they are also quite useful. What do you think of these widgets?
