Spatial Audio on Apple Music
Surely if you're subscribed to Apple Music you'll want to listen to all their songs in the highest possible quality, right? Since iOS 14.6 arrived we can listen to a great list of songs, and more will be added every time, with a type of surround sound also known as Dolby Atmos .
Sorry. With the highest possible quality it is not possible to listen to the songs of Apple Music as we explained in this article about LossLess , unless you have powerful wired headphones.Without loss (LossLess) is the name of the format with which you can listen to music with all the possible quality.
But we can listen to music as if we were inside a room. A kind of 3D sound that surrounds us and creates a wonderful sensation of space that makes us enjoy each song more.
Configure the iPhone to listen to music in Dolby Atmos:
First of all we are going to teach you how to configure the iPhone and iPad, so you can listen to your playlists and favorite songs with audio space, as long as they have it activated, which we will explain below.
To configure our device to automatically listen to songs in spatial audio, we must do the following:
- Have installed the iPhone or iPad, iOS 16 or iPadOS 14.6, at least.
- Go to Settings.
- Press Music.
- In Audio, press Dolby Atmos.
- Choose Automatic.
Hence to say that songs that support spatial audio play automatically when listened to with:
- AirPods Pro or AirPods Max with spatial audio turned on. In Control Center, press and hold the volume button, and then tap Spatial Audio. AirPods.
- BeatsX, Beats Solo3 Wireless, Beats Studio3, Powerbeats3 Wireless, Beats Flex, Powerbeats Pro or Beats Solo Pro.
- The built-in speakers of iPhone XR or later (except iPhone SE), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation or later), iPad Pro 11-inch, iPad (6th generation or later), iPad Air (3rd generation or later), or iPad mini (5th generation).
How to know which songs are compatible with spatial audio in Apple Music:
Once we have our devices configured to listen to our songs and favorite lists in Dolby Atmos, we have to know what distinctive they must have to know if they are compatible with this music format. To do this we will go to the album cover where the song we want to listen to is.
Spatial Audio Compatible Album
The data we want to check appears at the bottom. In this case, do you see how "Dolby Atmos" appears? That means the entire album can be heard in spatial audio.
In the following image you will see how not. It can only be heard in LossLess (lossless) but it is an audio format that, as we have said before, cannot be enjoyed in conventional headphones.
Not compatible with Dolby Atmos
Songs that are in spatial audio are noted, but if you want to check it and don't know which album it belongs to, you can check it as follows. On the screen where the song interface appears, you must click on the 3 points that we indicate in the following image:
Access the album where the song is
When doing so, a series of options will appear where we must choose "Show Album" and there, under the cover, we will be able to know if the song is compatible with Dolby Atmos or not.
Simple right?.
Greetings.
