Apple Music HiFi with Dolby Atmos and Lossless
All Apple Music subscribers can enjoy music with spatial sound with Dolby Atmos support. They'll also be able to listen to more than 75 million songs in Lossless Audio, the way artists created them in the studio. Isn't that cool?
These new features will be available next June at no additional cost to all Apple Music subscribers .
What is spatial sound with Apple Music Dolby Atmos support?:
Dolby Atmos is a revolutionary and immersive audio experience that allows you to enjoy sound in a different way. It seems that music is coming from everywhere It gives the feeling that we are in a room where only we are listening to the song that is playing at that moment in our headphones.
J. Balvin said “I am very excited to be a part of this project with Apple Music because I always want to take a step forward and I think this is one of those steps. With Lossless, everything in your music will sound bigger and louder, but most importantly, it will be of better quality. Hearing myself and my music in Dolby Atmos for the first time, it was crazy, it blew my mind, it's indescribable. I think the fans will love this new experience.”
By default, Apple Music will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip (all versions on the market), as well as built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhone, iPad and Mac .
Apple Music will be adding new dolby atmos tracks to the large number of songs available on its platform. Albums that are available in Dolby Atmos will have a badge on the details page for easy discovery.
New Audio Quality Badges in Apple Music
Apple is working with artists and record labels to add new releases with this revolutionary sound and improve songs from the current catalog so that we can all enjoy them at their highest sound quality. More and more artists are beginning to create music specifically for the spatial audio experience.
Both Dolby and Apple Music are making it easier for musicians, producers and engineers to create songs in Dolby Atmos .
Lossless Audio from Apple Music:
Apple Music will also make Lossless sound quality available to the user throughout its catalog of more than 75 million songs.Apple uses ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) to preserve every bit of the original audio file. Subscribers will be able to listen to the exact same audio file that the artists created in the studio.
To start listening to music without quality loss, you must have the latest version of Apple Music installed and you must activate it in Settings/Music/Audio quality. Here, you can choose different resolutions for different connections like mobile data, WiFi or for download.
Apple Music Lossless level starts at CD quality, which is 16-bit 44.1kHz, and goes up to 24-bit 48kHz and is natively playable on Apple devices. For the true lover of music and sound, Apple Music also offers High Resolution Lossless up to 24 bits at 192 kHz1, but from the apple they clarify that «To play lossless audio in high resolution an external device is required, as a USB digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
Because of this, if we want to enjoy the maximum sound quality that Apple Music offers in headphones, we will have to do it with a Hi-Res model together with an external USB DAC C .
Without a doubt, great news that will encourage many to make the leap to Apple's music platform and leave other competing services.
