Stop apps from tracking you
With the release of iOS 14.5, apps can no longer access the IDFA (IDFA) of the iPhone , iPad, or Apple TV without the user's express permission, thus maintaining the data, which you generate in the applications, more private.
Apps use your IDFA to track you across different apps and websites, keeping an eye on your app usage preferences and habits, and then offering personalized service to you, among other things.
How to stop apps from tracking you on your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV:
This new feature that Apple has built into iOS 14.5 , iPadOS 14.5 , and tvOS 14.5 , means that when an app wants to use your IDFA , you'll see a popup that says “ Does it allow you to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites?”
When this message appears, you will be able to choose “Ask app not to track” . This will block the app from all access to your identifier. You will also be able to “Allow” tracking, which makes the information accessible to the app for tracking purposes.
If you don't want to deal with these popups and want to universally block access to the IDFA, there is a privacy setting that allows you to do so. To do this, do the following:
- Enter the Settings app .
- Access the Privacy menu.
- Click on the Tracking option.
- Turn off "Allow apps to ask to track you" .
Disable app tracking
Depending on your privacy settings above, this switch may already be disabled on your device. If not, disabling that option will ensure that you never see popups asking for tracking again and applications will not be able to access your IDFA .
Developers are now required to adhere to Apple's privacy rules, so if you don't have the option turned off, you may be in for a huge onslaught of pop-ups from apps that require that tracking for purposes from custom.
Enable app tracking on iOS:
If you choose to turn on tracking, the iOS Tracking screen will display the apps you've given permission to. From there you can activate and deactivate the tracking of the apps that you consider necessary.
