HomePod with iOS 14
We wanted to install iOS 14 in our HomePod and since yesterday, mid-afternoon, we can now do it thanks to iOS 14.1 Since the new operating system for iPhone was officially launched, many users of the Apple speaker were waiting for its arrival to be able to benefit from all the new features it implements this iOS on that device.
The truth is that we expected more in terms of news, but apparently the good stuff will come from version 14.2, according to different media reports.
What's new in iOS 14.1 for the HomePod:
Includes support for the HomePod mini, new Siri features, and intercom is coming. There are also improvements and bug fixes.
HomePod mini:
We can automatically configure and transfer to HomePod mini the settings of your Apple ID , Apple Music , Siri and Wi-Fi connections .
Siri:
- Siri Suggestions are displayed in the Maps app when you ask HomePod for information about a location.
- Internet search requests you make on HomePod can be sent to iPhone.
- Siri can stop alarms, timers, and content playback on all HomePod speakers .
- Voice recognition for multiple home users works with the Podcasts app. (Not yet available for our language) .
Intercom:
- We can ask the HomePod to make announcements throughout the house through the rest of the HomePod speakers.
- Use intercom to say something on all HomePod speakers .
- Use intercom to say something on the HomePod in a specific room or area of the house.
Other improvements and fixes:
- Add music to alarm clocks and wake up listening to your favorite song, playlist or radio station from Apple Music .
- Fixed an issue that caused playback on HomePods configured as a stereo pair to sometimes be out of sync.
- Siri's reliability improves when controlling multiple speakers.
- Siri performance is optimized.
