Will Twitter limit retweets?
Social networks are, in most cases, great allies of information since they allow quick access to it. But, in recent times, they have also become important weapons of disinformation.
And it is not difficult to find on networks like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram , among others, publications of dubious credibility as well as numerous hoaxes. It is for this reason, and for the platforms to be reliable and safe environments, that social networks decide to limit this type of publication.
The limitation when making retweets on Twitter is, for now, temporary
This is not the first time this has happened, but this time Twitter has decided to limit a little its most accessible tool to achieve virality. We are talking about retweets or retweets, a tool used by the vast majority of users of the social network.
Until now, when we saw a post that we liked and wanted to reach more people, we just had to press the retweet icon and our followers would be able to see it, thus giving the post more reach.

But if until now it was that simple, from now on there will be a "lock" for it. And it is that Twitter has decided that it will show users a warning when making retweets encouraging them to add a comment instead of just retweeting it.
That is, something similar to the function “Quote tweet“. Of course, if users do not add any comments or quote the tweet because they only prefer to retweet, the platform will not prevent it in any way and the retweet will be published as such. It will only encourage users to read the news.
This "limitation" on retweets is implemented, for now, temporarily to try to limit the spread of hoaxes and misinformation. We don't know if it will finally stay forever but, it seems, the results obtained have been positive and the spread of hoaxes has been largely avoided.
