iOS True Tone

With each new iOS, those from Cupertino add more customization options to our iPhone and iPad. Today it's time to talk about True Tone, an option that many don't understand what it's for. We are going to try to explain it to you so that you understand it.

Before saying anything, we want to clarify one thing. Although the colors that the screen adopts, when this function is active, are very similar to those of the Night Shift mode, both functions have nothing to do with each other.

What is True Tone?:

The True Tone option is a function of iOS that allows us to adapt the colors of the screen of our device to the environment in which Let's meet.

In theory it makes the colors we see on the screen appear as real as possible. The iPhone uses advanced multi-channel sensors to adjust screen color and intensity. Adapts to ambient light so images appear more natural.

True Tone Technology

An example could be the following. If you look at a sheet of paper in broad daylight, it looks white, but if we see it under the light of a lamp, we may see it orange. Everything will depend on the tonality of the bulb.

That is why the iPhone sensor analyzes all the possible variables of the environment in which we are, to adapt the screen to what is supposed to be its “true color”.

True Tone yes or no?:

Here I am going to give you my personal opinion on the subject.

I'm a person who always wants the battery of my iPhone to last as long as possible. That is why having sensors active to analyze light conditions, ambient tones to adapt the colors of the mobile screen, I see it as a bad battery drain.

The expense may be minimal, but it's something I don't see as essential for me either. It is true that with this option active, the eye suffers less. In my case I play with the brightness of the screen, in manual, to adapt it to the light conditions in which I find myself. We already talked about this in the past and we advise you to deactivate the automatic brightness of the iPhone, although Apple advises having it active .

Is it better to turn iOS True Tone on or off?:

Turn True Tone on or off

Everything will depend on your tastes.

In my case, and as you may have deduced, I have it disabled. I already use the Night Shift option so that at night the screen turns into warmer colors so that the eye does not suffer.

For me, the fact that the iPhone modifies the colors of the screen, is something that I don't like very much. Also, I can't stand the warm colors that the screen shows, with the True Tone activated, throughout the day. I prefer cooler colors.

But if you are a person whose eyes get tired, who likes the screen to adapt to the lighting conditions and tones of the environment around you, do not hesitate to activate it. It's a great function and one that, little by little, Apple is installing on all its devices.

Now it's up to you to turn it on or off.

We hope we have helped you understand how this iOS option works and that you tell us if you have it active or not, in the comments of this article.

Greetings.
