Facebook has fixed the bug in its iOS app
A few days ago we informed you that an error had been detected by several users in the Facebook app in iOS The error it caused the camera to activate itself without users being aware of it, and without taking any action to make it open.
One of the users who reported it managed to record the error. Thanks to his video we could see how, in the background and after the app feed, the rear camera was activated and we could see everything that the camera was capturing.
Facebook has admitted the bug and has already fixed it
After the uproar this caused, because it seemed that another privacy scandal was added to Facebook, they have decided to act. And the first thing was to make a statement on Twitter through his Vice President of Integrity.
The bug in the app
In the twit, he himself claimed that they had found the problem that caused this error, which, according to them, occurred when opening an image and not at all times, as demonstrated by the user's video. He also claimed that they were not aware that any photos or videos have been uploaded to their servers due to this failure.
The solution to this error or bug has already been released and it is enough to update the application from Facebook in iOS for this error stop being present on our devices. That is why we recommend you update the app as soon as possible, especially if you have iOS 13.2.2 which is the version where the bug was present.
Facebook Vice President of Integrity's tweet
If you use the camera on Facebook, and if you have updated to the version that fixes the problem, you can now grant the app permission to the camera again. In this case, from Facebook they have been quick and everything seems to indicate, with this, that we were not dealing with something premeditated.
