iOS 13
I've been using iOS devices for a long time, specifically since I bought the iPhone 3GS . I've been through all kinds of stages using the operating system that Apple installs on its mobile devices.
I remember when I started using it I was complaining about how closed the system was. I couldn't download, I couldn't put on a ringtone I liked, I couldn't set a home screen to my liking, it was all cons. But to all this, security and a reliable and almost faultless operating system came first. This was enough for me to forget about everything else.
After a few months using my 3GS, I trusted myself and installed JailBreak on my iPhone It was a stage in which I discovered all the possibilities offered by this “tool” in terms of setting. Round app icons, free music, ringtone download, record screen. It was interesting and something that I started to comment on at the beginning of this blog, but it was ephemeral since shortly after installing the Jail my iPhone had all kinds of problems and I ended up uninstalling it.
Today, iOS has evolved a lot and, possibly, we are using the best iOS ever. But it doesn't quite convince me. Below I explain why.
iOS is currently more unstable and vulnerable, albeit a much more open system:
Now many of the functions that you used when jailbroken are available. We can record the iPhone screen, see the use we make of the device, consult the battery he alth , which apps we use the most, download all kinds of files like music, movies .The truth is that in this aspect we have gained a lot. But I have to say that some more than others.
iPhone Screen Time
All this to the detriment of the stability of a system that was previously very closed but stable. This is what I miss most. The stability of a system that offered you guarantees of operation and performance that, today, are not what they used to be.
Times change and Apple had to step up and open iOS, if he didn't want the competition to eat him his share of the pie.
Before we all complained that iOS was a closed system and today we are complaining that it's not as stable as it was before, that there are many updates, but what is it? we want?. This is the cost of making iOS a more open system.
This is something that, at least to me, is not very funny. It is seen that age somewhat conditions this way of thinking. At 43 years old, I prefer a more closed system than it is today, and one that was more stable.
Actually, I did a poll on my personal twitter and it seems that there are a lot more people than I expected, according to me. Look:
Results of the survey carried out on Twitter, on iOS
Despite being more open, iOS is still the most reliable and stable mobile operating system on the market:
But it's not all bad and even though we've lost stability on our iPhone and iPad, I still think that iOS continues to be the most reliable and stable mobile operating system on the market.
Apple has been opening it little by little and it is appreciated that it has done so, with lead feet. As is normal, little by little errors, bugs, failures are appearing and that is why we have so many updates.
We have to be patient and receive them with joy since they are the ones that debug the operating system most envied by the competition.
I think the time will come when performance, stability and an open system come together, but for that we will have to wait, be patient and update our devices more frequently than usual.
And what do you prefer, a iOS that is more closed but stable or one that is more open but unstable?
We look forward to your opinions.
