A while ago, rumors began to that WhatsApp would prevent us from being added to groups with our permission. Over time, this rumor became a reality and was activated in certain countries such as India.
The activation of these privacy settings was done on a few sites and not for all users. But 6 months after it was announced, this new privacy feature is making an appearance on many users' devices.
Now we can configure who can add us to a WhatsApp group without our permission and who can't:
In the following video we show you how this new function works:
We find, in the application settings, a new section called Groups, and in it we can choose who can add us to groups between Anyone, My Contacts or My contacts except some people.
The first step to activate this function
The possibility of choosing Nobody to add us to groups is only present in WhatsApp Business. But this does not mean that we cannot configure it, since if we select « My contacts except... », we will be able to select all our contacts.
In this way, you will not be able to add any strangers to us, since it is marked that only our contacts can add us, but you will not be able to add any contacts without our permission either, since we have indicated that no one can do so.
The function activated
The administrators of the Groups, when we have this option activated, obviously they won't be able to add us directly to the group. But they can, as expected at the beginning of the show, send us a private invitation, indicating that we join the group.
The diffusion of this function is being carried out, it seems, gradually. Therefore, for it to appear, we can only wait and keep WhatsApp updated to the latest version that is available on the App Store.
