Apps record our screen without consent
Scandal after scandal, attacks against privacy in iOS are jumping to the fore. The latest scandal has been that there are applications that record our screens without any kind of consent on our part.
If you don't know what we are talking about, in the following link you can find out about how apps record the screen of our devices without warning.
This news is very strong and outrageous. Apple has taken matters into its own hands and has become very serious with these developers.
Apple forces developers to remove screen recording code:
Apps such as Abercrombie & Fitch , Hotels.com , Air Canada , Hollister , Expedia and Singapore Airlines have made these recordings behind the back of users using their apps. All this in order to see how users interact with them. Touches, button presses, and key inputs are captured and provided to application developers.
A spokesperson for Apple, who has contacted the TechCrunch portal, has said this about it:
“Protecting user privacy is paramount in the Apple ecosystem. Our App Store Review Guidelines require apps to request explicit user consent and provide a clear visual cue when recording or logging user activity. We have notified developers who violate these strict terms and privacy guidelines, and we will take immediate action if necessary."
Apple has already contacted the developers of these applications. He has sent them the instructions to remove the code that recorded the activities of the application. Here you have the text that one of the affected platforms has received:
“Your app uses analytics software to collect and send user or device data to a third party without user consent. Applications must request explicit consent from the user and provide a clear visual cue when recording or recording user activity.”
Less than a day to remove screen recording code:
Apple is serious about getting rid of this code. You have given the developer less than a day to remove it and resubmit the app. If you don't, it will be removed from the App Store.
The Bitten Apple requires screen recording apps to cause a small red icon to appear in the upper left corner of the device's screen to make it clear that the screen is being recorded. It looks like Apple is going to enforce this rule for this type of analytics tracking.
Greetings and, as we always tell you, if you found this news interesting, please spread it as widely as possible.
