Instagram Comments
We've added this new tutorial, to our extensive list of iOS tutorials, to teach you how to control and manage comments on IG.
Like almost everyone, a few days ago someone sent us a bad-sounding comment on one of our Instagram photos. One must learn from everything and even in unpleasant situations one learns.
We don't delete comments. Whether they are good or bad, we respect them as long as they do not disrespect any of the members of the APPerlas team, or our content.A person can give their opinion without disrespect and we respect those comments. But when criticized in bad faith, with bad manners and bad words, we have no mercy and we eliminate them.
What made us learn this situation? Find a setting in Instagram that allows us to filter comments based on keywords.
Filter Instagram comments and avoid insults, threats, offensive comments :
We knew there had to be a way to block comments using words.
Enter the settings of Instagram by clicking on the profile photo that appears on the right side of the bottom menu. After this, click on the three parallel lines that appear in the upper right part of the screen. After the menu appears, click on the "Settings" option, which appears at the bottom of the screen accompanied by the famous cogwheel.
Once inside the configuration options, we look for the “Comment Controls” tab. Click on it and we will access this menu.
Comment Controls
As you can see, the options appear in English. We will translate them for you below:
- Allow Comments From: Allow comments from
- Block Comments From: Block comments from
- Hide Offensive Comments: Hide offensive comments
- Manual Filter: Manual Filter
We have an automatic filter, called “Hide Offensive Comments”, which automatically hides comments on your posts that may be offensive. We recommend activating it.
Then at the bottom we have the manual filters, «Manual Filter» .By activating it, we will be able to write the words that when written in the comments, Instagram will block so that said comment does not appear in your publications. These words are followed and separated by commas.
Avoid insults, bad words
With this, for example, if we want to block comments that contain the words "stupid", "shit", "idiot" we write them inside the box so that Instagram blocks everything comment containing them.
Activating "Filter Most Reported Words" which translated means "Activate keyword filters", Instagram will hide comments that include keywords that are often reported as offensive.
Recommendation for setting IG comments:
We believe that activating the automatic filter and the default keywords filter is more than enough. But if you need more exhaustive control over a specific word, we recommend activating the keyword filter.
They don't have to be insults. We can also block words that refer to the competition, a person, a celebrity, a brand, etc.
Without further ado, we hope we have helped you to filter Instagram comments.
