The most used instant messaging app, WhatsApp, does not add new features anymore. If we recently knew about new features and improvements as well as the new dark mode coming, today WABetaInfo has unveiled a new functionality, focused on protecting our privacy.
The blocking of WhatsApp through Face ID and Touch ID was something demanded by many users
Specifically, the new function that will make an appearance in WhatsApp will be the protection of the application through Face ID and Touch ID . This adds an extra layer of privacy to our messages in the instant messaging application.
According to what has been learned, in one of the betas of WhatsApp the possibility of activating Face ID has appeared in the application Settings or Touch ID each time we access the application. In the event that Touch ID or Face ID fails several times, WhatsApp will ask us for the device code.
The settings that allow you to block WhatsApp
This extra layer of protection is added to the unlocking of the device itself as well as the hidden notifications native to iOS, present on all devices with Face IDthrough which the message is not displayed on the screen until we unlock the device.
As indicated, this protection method will only reach iOS devices, for now. In other words, for the moment, Android devices that have a fingerprint reader will not be able to block the WhatsApp app and unlock it with their fingerprint, at least officially.
This may move Apple and decide to implement the option to block apps natively in iOS. We will inform you at all times when this long-awaited function, present on Telegram for some time, makes an appearance at WhatsApp.
