Since the release of WatchOS 1 all users have asked Apple to add third-party watch faces to our Apple Watch.
And it is that in addition to the straps, the spheres would allow us to further customize our watch.
Third-party watch faces on our Apple Watch is close
According to 9to5Mac it seems that in the source code of the beta WatcOS 4.3.1 there are indications of this.
In this beta code, a component of the NanoTimeKit framework, responsible for the watch faces of the Apple Watch, has new options to communicate directly with Xcode.
This gives developers the ability to add their spheres directly from Xcode.
Though this has not been confirmed yet by Apple.
But there is hope that third-party spheres can reach our Apple Watch.
And why don't we have them yet?
It is rare for users that we still cannot enjoy third-party watch faces on our watch.
But in fact, every major update the Apple Watch has had has brought new watch faces. And in each sphere we can customize the information we want to see on the screen.
So the first question is do we need more variety?
On the one hand, the more variety the better for the user, increasing the possibilities of choice. But on the other hand, in the end we end up using only one or maybe two, mainly the one that we like the most and that suits our preferences.
The reasons why Apple has not allowed third-party spheres to enter our Apple Watch can be various.
Wants to maintain good user experience with the watch and its stability. The fact that everyone can perform their sphere could reduce the quality of them. In addition to influencing the user experience.
Apple wants to keep watch faces and operating system consistent.
Although those of Cupertino now open the season perhaps, as happens with other accessories such as keyboards, we end up choosing Apple spheres.
In any case, let's not get our hopes up and wait and see what happens, because at the moment it's only a beta that we have on our hands.
