As we explained to you yesterday, the Apple event was focused on education.
Within this context, an update to iWork, the office suite from Cupertino, was to be expected.
What is the iWork update?
Just yesterday, after the announcement of the Keynlote, Apple released the 4.0 update of the office suite, iWork.
The primary goal of this update is to make iWork compatible with the Apple Pencil.
So from now on you can use the Apple Pencil, or even your finger, to draw, write and annotate whatever you want on Pages , Keynote or Numbers.
This update was highly requested by users, as they are applications for daily use, in which the Apple Pencil would make life easier. Thus allowing greater creativity in documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
Pages will also add Presenter mode, allowing you to transform your iPad or iPhone into an electronic notepad, for distraction-free reading .
iWork will have integration with Box, thus allowing collaboration between users in real time.
All focused on students
The whole keynote yesterday was focused on improvements for students and the iWork update as well.
Put yourself in a situation, you are at school or university taking notes with the iPad through the App of Pages .
Your teacher makes a diagram or drawing on the board that you must copy. It would be easy if you had a pen and paper, right? Well now it is also because with the Apple Pencil it is exactly the same.
In addition, the Smart option appears, which allows users to give and receive feedback on a document. With this option, comments and markups will be anchored in the text dynamically.
As well as, for example, automatically formatting fractions as you type.
iBooks Author is incorporated into Pages
With the update to iWork, the iBooks Author application for creating books disappears as such and is incorporated intoPages.
It will be possible to create digital books from the Pages application of both iOS and MacOS .
There will be numerous templates to let our creativity run wild and we can collaborate in real time with colleagues to create the book together.
The update is already available on the App Store, although some of the new features are in beta mode or have not yet appeared.
