Everyone knows the complaints of many users about the durability and resistance of the charging cables of the iPhone.
Actually, the patent is from the first quarter of 2017, but it has come out now.
Patent: New Lightning Connector
Apple is aware that one of its biggest problems is the durability of its connector cables.
A quick and effective solution has been the wireless charging that iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X have, eliminating the root of the problem.
But Apple is still working on it, and a patent for a new Lightning connector has recently surfaced.
In the patent you can see that the termination of the cable is different. It would contain a deformable material, capable of modifying its diameter to adapt to the connected device.
This way, the connector would be sealed while charging the iPhone, iPad or iPod .
The new Lightning connector would protect the entry of liquids or dust, thus leaving the connection watertight.
In this way, our device would be protected against this threat. Adding to the resistance that Apple devices already have to water and dust.
The new Lightning connector one more safeguard
Despite the fact that the latest iPhone have IP67 certification, that is, they are resistant to dust and water, the cable we connect to the current does not.
So that if there is some water in the connector and we plug it into the current it can cause a serious failure.
The new Lightning connector would be slimmer at the tip and wider at the back. And the moment the device is connected, the thinnest part would increase its diameter by opening the two tabs and create a waterproof seal.
We may not see new Airpods this year, but we might see new Lightning connectors. What do you think?
