It is no longer completely essential to go to an academy to learn a language. Although it is true that it is the best way to start mastering it and letting go of it, if what we want is to take our first steps in a language we have different applications.
The following are probably the best apps to learn languages from the iPhone.
The best apps to learn languages:
Duolingo:
We start with Duolingo. It is probably the best known and used for being one of the pioneers. It gives us the chance to learn 8 languages if we are Spanish speakers and more than 20 if we choose to learn the languages in English. Completely free.

Tinycards:
Tinycards is also from Duolingo, but its learning method is completely different. If Duolingo is based on teaching units, Tinycards makes use of cards to help us memorize anything in any language. Fantastic if we combine it with the Duolingo app itself.

Memrise:
Memrise opts, like many others, for us to learn a language by units. The didactic units are on specific topics and we will have to learn a certain number of words that we have established to complete them. With over 100 languages to learn, this free downloadable app offers the subscription method.

Mondly:
Mondly is very similar to Memrise. It makes use of learning by words. Once the theme of words that we want to learn has been selected, the app's exercises will be based on those words. With more than 30 languages, a subscription is required after the free 7 days.

Busuu and Babbel:
These two applications are the closest to what a language academy is. Both work through the subscription method, and offer lessons for both beginners and more advanced people in the language and we will find both basic exercises and more advanced lessons.
