Today we are going to show you the steps we must follow in case our iPhone has been stolen . And obviously, we don't know what to do.
It's very normal, or at least it's one of the easiest thefts today, to have our Smartphone stolen from us. But even more if it is a iPhone . And it is that its price in the market does not lose as much value as any other mobile device can do, the apple is the apple.
So if it has been stolen or you just want to be informed if it happens to you, don't miss this article because I could help you a lot.
STEPS TO FOLLOW IF YOUR IPHONE HAS BEEN STOLEN
First of all, we must say that all this article is possible thanks to Luís Herreras.
And with his experience told on Twitter, he easily showed us the steps we should follow if this has happened to us. We are going to make a brief summary with each and every one of those steps that we are going to talk about. Therefore we begin:
- Sign in to iCloud and turn on “Lost Mode”. With this, a message will appear on our "lost" iPhone, in which they say to call us if the device has been found.
- Logically, if it has been stolen, the most normal thing is that they turn it off, so we must activate the option “Notify me when it is found”. In this way, as soon as the iPhone turns on, we will receive a notification indicating where it is.
- You can choose to erase iPhone, but without erasing it from your Apple account. That being the case, they will always need your Apple ID to do anything.
- Call your phone company and give download your SIM card.
- Go to the Police and report the theft. To do this, you need the iPhone's IMEI number (it appears on the back of the device's box).
- With the complaint already made, we went to our operator and blocked the iPhone giving it its IMEI again. So it can no longer be used with any other SIM.
So far all the steps we must follow once our iPhone has been stolen. But as Luís Herreras tells us on his Twitter account, the iPhone has been stolen in order to be sold and therefore put into operation.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?
Based on his story, we are going to tell you what will surely happen to us once we have given up the iPhone for lost and we have carried out all the previous steps.
- Surely turn on the iPhone and since we have activated the "Lost Mode",we will receive an email indicating where it is. With total security you are in Morocco. Place where they usually remove the IMEI from the iPhone and unlock them.
- The iPhone is one of the most secure devices out there. Not even the FBI can unlock it, except with your permission. Therefore, these people will try to contact you.
- As we have left a number for them to contact us, they will send us an SMS. They will impersonate Apple. What many users are unaware of is that Apple will never contact you by SMS.
Fake SMS from Apple that we should not answer
- This SMS takes us to a page very similar to Apple's (Find my iPhone). Here it will ask us for our Apple ID, in the case of entering our data, we will be lost. So we have to ignore this SMS.
- Therefore, even if we never get our device back, we should never give out our Apple ID.
Also, we've been following Luis' story on Twitter and it seems that has gotten better . Therefore, from APPerlas we want to thank you for helping all of us and making it possible for us to have made this article.
