Si a few days ago the bitten apple company was on everyone's lips because of the batteryGate case. Today it is news again because a link sent through a message can block your iPhone.
In itself, it does not pose any risk to the device, but let's just say that it is not to our liking.
A message can lock your iPhone where is the new security flaw?
The new discovery is located in the messaging app of iOS, iMessage.
Its discoverer, Abraham Masri, is the one who opened Pandora's box.
If you receive a message with a particular link, like the one in the discoverer's tweet photo, it causes an unexpected crash of the app or the iPhone.
Capture in which the link appears
This bug has been called chaiOS , it affects both stable versions of iOS and beta versions.
It seems inconceivable that a message could lock your iPhone.
What effects does it have on the iphone?
It doesn't really have any adverse effects.
Only the shock you get when you see your iPhone locked and restarting it.
The problem is basically that once you restart the iPhone, if you open the app of Messages, it reloads the last conversation with the link. Thus re-hanging the application or blocking the iPhone, entering a tremendous loop.
To exit it, before opening the messaging app you can:
- With 3D touch on the app icon and create a new message.
- If you don't have 3D touch, from the calendar, send a message to a contact.
This way, the malicious message will remain in the 2nd conversation and we can delete it.
Being of no consequence, we think Apple will not release any update soon to avoid this vulnerability.
Did the message reach you?
