How do you know, Apple had implemented some measures aimed at slowing down the processors of older iPhones.
According to those of the bitten apple, the purpose of all this was to extend the life of the device, improve the user experience and avoid the degradation of its battery. That is why if your battery is damaged, your device will have slowed down.
Despite this explanation, the theme has not gone down very well with the users of their devices. Not only have changes made without permission been annoyed, but also the lack of transparency and communication.
To improve this situation Apple announced the replacement of batteries at a price of €29 throughout this year, even if they happen the test.
How can you know the battery status of your iPhone?
In the iPhone there is no option in settings, nor in the operating system, that tells you how many charge cycles the battery takes.
But if you have iOS 10.2.1 or higher installed, Apple itself will tell you whether or not to change the battery. To do this you must:
- Access settings
- Enter the battery section
- Above the “Low consumption mode” option, a message will appear in case your battery has reached 500 charging cycles or more.
The message that would appear if it exceeded 500 cycles is: “ Your iPhone battery might require service. More information ". Then you'll know to change it.
You can also know the damage that your battery has, using the app Battery Life.
It is always recommended to go to Apple to change the battery and maintain the warranty. But this already depends on each one. There are even kits, which you can purchase, so you can change it yourself, if you dare.
But if you still don't stay calm and want to know, directly, if the CPU of your iPhone has been slowed down by Apple, there is another option.
Librium Device Info, app that allows you to measure iPhone slowdown:
In order to measure the slowdown of the iPhone and know if Apple has applied any of its measures to us, you must download Librium Device Info (at the bottom we leave you the download link).
We can find it in a paid version and its free lite version. For what we want to consult, the lite version of the app is enough.
The application is in English. But what you have to do is very simple and, even if you don't speak the language, you won't have a problem. You can measure the slowdown of the iPhone in just one click.
It's as simple as accessing it and, in the left side menu, selecting the “This Device” option.
Choose the option This Device
The details regarding our CPU will appear on the screen.
The part we are interested in measuring the slowdown of the iPhone is the one that compares the current CPU Clock with the CPU maximum Clock . The greater this difference, the greater the slowdown that the iPhone has suffered.
Compare CPU Actual Clock vs CPU Maximum Clock
In our case, our iPhone 6 has not suffered any type of slowdown. The values are the same. This confirms that everything we have said on Twitter about the performance of our device with iOS 11, and which so many people distrusted, is completely true. At APPERLAS WE NEVER LIE.
The application has many utilities that may be of interest. All of them in the “Tools” side menu.
One of them will also show you the battery status of your iPhone.
With this information we will have enough data to measure the slowdown of the iPhone and, if we want, the state of the battery.
Here are the download links for the different versions of this application:
Should you change the battery or are you one of the lucky ones who has it in good condition?
