A few days ago we were talking about how Pokémon Go was the game most downloaded on the App Store this Christmas.
Niantic Labs updates are always good news. They offer better user experiences and better apply augmented reality in their game.
However, the latest news is not so encouraging. Ninatic Labs has announced that the upcoming Pokémon Go update for Apple devices will no longer support those who cannot update to iOS 11.
When will the Pokémon Go update come out?
According to a statement from Niantic Labs, it will arrive on February 28.
Official Note on Pokémon GO Update
Therefore, all those trainers who do not have a version of iOS 11 on their iPhone or iPad will no longer be supported. And they won't be able to access the game.
Which devices does this new version of Pokémon Go affect?
As a result, this measure affects all those devices without iOS 11, the most affected users will be the owners of iPhone 5 or iPhone 5C.
Starting with the February 28 update, the game will no longer be accessible on devices:
- iPhone 5 (2013)
- iPhone 5C (2012)
- The iPad 4th generation (late 2012)
- iPad 3rd generation (early 2012)
- Not forgetting iPad mini 1st generation (late 2012)
- iPad 2 (2011)
Why are these devices no longer supported?
Apparently, this decision is due to the improvements that have been made in the game of Pokémon Go and that are not supported by said devices.
Everything indicates that it is a consequence of the new augmented reality model for iOS 11.
It seems that Niantic Labs does not plan to offer two types of augmented reality depending on the version of the operating system you use.
And it has discarded all those that don't have iOS 11.
So as of February 28, if you are a user of one of the devices on the list that we have left a little above, your access to the Pokémon Go account will be disabled . A pity!
Are you in this situation? Or are you one of the lucky ones who will be able to continue with your training?
