We warn you that one of the new features of iOS 11, its app FILES, is a very good option as long as nobody can access our terminal.
And we say this because from this application, we can manage all cloud storage platforms. We will have access, from the same panel, to our files in iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive .
A priori the idea is fantastic, but it has a CON that we will now discuss.
Cloud documents managed through the FILES application are accessible to anyone who accesses our iPhone or iPad:
To be able to access our files in Dropbox, Google Drive, from the Files application, the first thing we have to do is remove any access code for these platforms. If we don't, this will happen
Unable to access Dropbox with password set
Depends on what you have stored in each of them, it will be very useful, or not, to delete that password.
If you agree to be able to manage all your documents in the cloud, from Files, your documents will be accessible to anyone who can use your iPhone.
Example: You leave your mobile phone with your brother-in-law who enters ARCHIVES. Without hindrance, access all the PRIVATE Dropbox documents that you don't want anyone to see or read.
The only protection we can put on these files is to block the device. No one will be able to enter because they will not be able to access the content of your iPhone or iPad. But if someone violates it
This is why we recommend that if you have private documents that you don't want anyone to have access to, don't use FILES. Keep using the app from your cloud platform with its corresponding access code.
Link only accounts where you don't have files, photos you don't mind being seen by anyone.
Google removes protection from Google Drive and its office suite:
Google has removed the option that allowed you to block access to documents stored in Google Drive by password. All this to make the platform compatible with the new iOS 11 file manager.
If you don't want to link your Google Drive account to Files, there's only one way to keep our documents protected. This is closing the session every time we stop using them.
Many users have complained about this. We hope that Google will take action on the matter and re-implement the passcode.
