Since the introduction of Pokemon GO, it was known that the content of the game was going to arrive in stages through updates, and this was confirmed with the launch of the game when Niantic declared that they had only introduced 10% of all the content planned for the game.
With this new update, Niantic adds more features and fixes a number of bugs that were manifesting in the game.
THE MOST RELEVANT OF THIS NEW VERSION OF POKEMON GO IS THE "BUDDY POKEMON" FUNCTION
The most relevant novelty is the "Buddy Pokemon" function. This new function allows us to choose one of our Pokemon to be our travel companion, and thus it will appear next to our avatar on the game screen.
To choose a Pokemon as a partner we will have to access the menu that allows us to customize our avatar, press the icon with three stripes at the bottom right, press partner in the menu that is displayed and choose our pet Pokemon.
Carrying a Pokemon as a partner is not only for decoration, but we can get a candy from the pet Pokemon for a certain amount traveled, which will allow us to evolve and improve our Pokemon faster.
The amount that you have to walk varies depending on the Pokemon you have chosen as a partner and so, for example, we will get a Pikachu candy per kilometer, but to get a Charmander candy, we will have to walk three kilometers.
Along with this new feature, the fixes we found are the following: Minor text fix, game connectivity issues fix, and bug fix that caused eggs to get stuck and prevented them from hatching.
As you can see, except for the function of bringing a partner Pokemon, most of the new features that this update includes are performance improvements as well as fixes to some of the many bugs that we found in the game.
If you haven't downloaded Pokemon GO yet, maybe now is a good time as Niantic is rolling out various improvements and new features albeit little by little. You can download the game from here.
