Just on Christmas Eve 2015 we told you about a possible messaging app from Google that would compete with Whatsapp for being the app most used instant messaging service on the planet. We were not misguided and today we have received new information about it and the truth is that things are getting interesting.
With an established messaging system that almost all of us use through applications such as Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Telegram, Line, who can think that this world can be revolutionized? Google has set out to do it and the truth is that if they manage to impose the system they are working on, we believe it could happen.
Messaging apps killed the SMS from the operators. Some of them chose to give them away if we contracted a certain rate and even Movistar, Vodafone and Orange joined forces to create an app called JOYN to compete with WhatsApp and which went unnoticed by theApp Store.
Now Google wants to “kill” apps like Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram with the messages RCS.
WHAT IS RCS?:
Messages RCS (Rich Communications Services) allow you to share text, images and videos, also know when your contact is writing, create chats for many people, etc. I'm sure you'll be wondering what the RCS bring us again if all this is already done by the apps we already use?.
What sets RCS apart from messaging apps is that you don't need to have the app to receive a message.Can you send a Telegram to a person who does not have the application installed on their mobile? right not? because the RCS allow you to send messages to people who do not have the RCS app installed. This message would arrive in the form of a normal text message, or SMS. This will provide us with the security that the message will reach the person we want, yes or yes.
These RCS will be adopted by all operators in the world and will have a client called JIBE that we can install on our devices.
