For a few years now, companies such as Apple, Facebook and Microsoft, have published information about the user data they offer to different governments , at their request. Dropbox,in an attempt to add to this "Transparency Law", has published a recent statement informing that they have also been providing information about users for some time, especially to the US government .US

In said publication, they comment that between January and June 2015 they have received 227 search warrants, 179 summonses and 10 court orders, figures that exceed previous quarters in which there were not as many, requests for information on user accounts.

DROPBOX PRIVACY MAY BE VIOLATED

It is clear that more and more, users use different platforms on the Internet to keep data, documents, contacts, photos that can be a great source of information for governments and public bodies that want to investigate any crime or case that be third. It is, therefore, normal that these types of digital records are becoming more and more common.

Regarding the issue of Dropbox it is interesting to say that only 1.7% of requests for information on user data come from outside the United States. This leaves us Spaniards who use this cloud storage platform more at ease, since apparently our government has not requested any type of information about users in our country.

But don't think that the Spanish government doesn't ask for information of this kind.Just because you haven't requested it from Dropbox doesn't mean you haven't done it on other platforms. For example, it is known that between July and December 2013, the Spanish government requested information on 811 profiles of Facebook .

As you can see, we must be aware that our privacy can be violated in that almost all of our profiles on storage platforms and on social networks, so we must be consistent with everything we save and publish.

Greetings and we hope you found this news interesting.
