It's normal that as the years go by, the performance of older smartphones is diminished by the powerful iOS that are coming out. It is true that the iPhone 4S began to lose performance from iOS 8 and, although it was difficult for the mobile to perform smoothly, it could be used in a quite acceptable way, although at times it drove us crazy.
Now with the arrival of iOS 9, we have installed this new version and we'll tell you what we think.
INSTALL IOS 9 ON IPHONE 4S?
We are not going to use technical terms nor are we going to delve into complicated issues that many of you, and we, neither understand nor are interested in. We are going to tell you about the experience, at the user level, that we have today with a iPhone 4S with the new iOS .
Before continuing, we want to tell you that we have done the installation of iOS 9 on iPhone 4S starting from a factory reset of the device and without restoring any copies of security. We have selected it as NEW iPHONE .
After this and after installing all the apps we had before restoring, we have noticed better performance on the device. It is obvious that there are stutters when using it and that the fluidity is not that of an iPhone 6 , but we have noticed that the 4S works more snappy than with iOS 8.4.1 .
To avoid noticing stumbles in its use, what we have done has been to activate the "REDUCE MOVEMENT" option in the ACCESSIBILITY menu found within SETTINGS / GENERAL. This helps a lot to avoid that kind of lag.
Regarding the use of apps, we have to say that if you are anxious people that as soon as you enter an application you are already tapping to go to the menu you want, for the proper functioning of it in a iPhone 4S, we recommend you take things easy and let the app load well and, once open, wait 1 or 2 seconds to be able to use it in a pleasant way. If you don't wait that long, the app will crash a bit at first.
In terms of battery life we have noticed a slight improvement compared to the previous version of iOS . We have to say that we have optimized the iPhone so that it consumes as little battery as possible, disabling functions such as “UPDATES IN THE BACKGROUND”, location options, etc
It's true that there are new features in iOS 9 that aren't available for iPhone 4S, like the new Spotlight screen on the left of the main screen of the applications, or the drawing mode of the notes app, but they are functions that we are not really going to use much and that we are not going to miss.
SHALL WE UPGRADE IPHONE 4S TO iOS 9?
Install iOS 9 on iPhone 4S? Knowing how this iPhone model works in iOS 8.4.1, don't think twice. We recommend you upgrade because there is nothing to lose. For us, the latest version of iOS 8 made our device work really badly.
As we have said, we noticed improvement in all aspects, starting from a iPhone previously restored to factory settings. We recommend that you do it this way, because in this way, we clean the device of junk files and install iOS 9 on a completely clean device.
As time goes by we will surely lose performance, but it is something that we must assume since we are talking about an iPhone that has been on the market for 5 years.
Don't hesitate and install iOS 9 on iPhone 4S. I'm sure you won't regret it.
