PEPEHONE LEAVES VODAFONE IN THE NEXT MONTHS:

Dear customer,

You may have recently read a story about our disagreement with Vodafone -the operator through which we provide you with service today- and our decision to change its coverage in a few months to the joint coverage of Yoigo and Movistar. If you have read it, we will clarify it for you. If you have not read it, we will inform you in this email.

We are clear about our order of priorities and we owe it to our clients, that is, to you and the service we provide you.To no one else. And not because we want to play nice. Simply because we live from it and not only in an economic sense, but also emotionally, since we are lucky enough to be able to do our work in an ethical and responsible way (something that is said in just two words, but that takes 6 years to build). . This allows us to sleep peacefully every night knowing that we do not have rugs to hide things that the client does not see, that we can always explain everything we do (sometimes right and sometimes wrong) and that an ethical model in telecommunications not only works, but also which is also profitable.

Having such a small and simple list of priorities has turned us into a case (we don't know if strange) of a company in which even the shareholders know and respect that we will never execute any decision that does not follow this priority or that fails to comply any of the principles of conduct that we published on our website in 2008. They share, like all of us who work at Pepephone, that when you take care of your work and worry about doing it well, the benefit (almost) always comes. However, when you are only concerned with profit or maintaining your comfort zone, the work is wasted and (unless you are a giant company) the profit is lost as well. And comfort.

In these 6 years, we have always made decisions that we understand are consistent with our way of being, even against our own company, but never against our model of behavior. It is always the sum of many things that gives a result and not a partial vision of the short term. This time, we have made a decision that is somewhat more difficult to make, but just as easy to explain. For this, nothing more suitable than the truth, which should be neither short nor long, but complete:

      • We have a contract with Vodafone that obliges them to offer us the 4G service for our customers. The 4G service -4th generation of mobile- is the evolution of the current 3G telephony and allows browsing speeds 10 times faster than the current one.Today it may seem like a 'novelty' to you, but it is what will change everything.
      • In June 2013, Vodafone launched the 4G service for its customers, but not for those of Pepephone, to the detriment that this entails for us. During this period, the other three operators with their own network in Spain (Movistar, Orange and Yoigo) also launched it.
      • The 4G service is the future of mobile telephony and the strategic commitment of all operators in Spain, as you will surely be seeing every day in TV ads.
      • 10 months after that launch and, despite our multiple requests, Vodafone still does not give us or offer us the service. We haven't even gotten a specific date of availability or an approximate cost. What we do have is a lot of “and if that, see ya”. The only clear and demonstrable fact is that if you want 4G today and you are a Pepephone customer, all you have to do is ask Vodafone for portability and you will have it in 24 hours. This is no coincidence.
      • Curiously, no virtual operator in Spain currently has 4G, despite having 30 operators like Pepephone waiting for it. The same thing that we mentioned in the previous point happens to all of us.
      • After many months, we have not received a concrete answer, neither on the date of availability nor on the price, but we have a lot of impeccably correct “and if that's it, we'll see each other”.

Due to the above and in our legitimate right to seek a solution, we have spoken with Yoigo, which is the operator in Spain with the greatest 4G coverage (it shares its network with Movistar) and, in theory, the only that he was not obliged to provide it to other operators and he has understood us, so we have decided to switch to his network. This has serious implications and costs for Pepephone, but you will not be affected at all. We assume the consequences of making a decision that we believe is responsible and correctWe want to compete freely and that the day you leave Pepephone for another operator you do it because he has won you and not because he has caused us to lose you.

Since this change will raise questions for you, here we answer the ones we think are most important.

How does this affect me?

At the moment NOTHING. Until a few months from now, nothing will change. We hope to start in June, but we will confirm it for you.

Will my coverage change?

In a few months, after the change, we will have Yoigo+Movistar network coverage in Spain and abroad. It should be the best in Spain, but it is likely that for some it will get better and for others it will get worse, depending on the place.

Do I have to call or do something?

Nothing. We will take care of everything. We'll notify you and make the change at no cost to you and with as little inconvenience as possible.

Will any services change, will there be any limitations, conditions, etc.?

None.

Will you lower the prices?

Yes. Every change has something good and, in this case, you will not only have 2G+3G+4G, but we will improve your product and your price as much as we can.

4G doesn't interest me at all. I don't have a latest generation smartphone.

We will also lower the price for you.

I also have your ADSL, is there any change?

No. This change only affects mobile telephony. You received this message because you are a mobile customer.

Will it change anything else?

Nothing. Only what you don't see. Network. The rest will continue to be Pepephone. In the good and in the bad.

We have always wanted to appear as little in your life and that you forget that you have a mobile phone operator. We never send you, we don't beat you up when you decide to leave, we don't call you to sell you things and we don't even bother you when a price drops for new customers. We download it to you first, period. The problem is that now we will have to contact you in a few months to ask you to switch with us again, one by one, and send you a new SIM card. The fact is that we will bother you. We didn't want to do it, but we have to do it.

What do you think? We have been stunned by such an event, but from APPerlas we want to give our full support to PEPEPHONE for facing costs due to the well-being of all its clients. These types of decisions are not seen very often and are worthy of praise.

If you are Pepephone customers or you were considering the possibility of switching to this company, at APPerlas we have considered publishing this news to inform you of all the interesting movements in the virtual operator market.
