Table of contents:

The mute action in TWEETBOT any hashtag, user, client from whom you do not want to receive any type of tweet, is called mute .

This mute option is really useful when you don't want to receive comments on your TIMELINE about certain topics that don't interest you. If you are a person who does not like football, you can mute, for example, the hashtags fútbol, RealMadrid, Champions, Barça so that tweets containing this type do not appear on your main tweetbot screen of themes.

But it's also useful when you don't want to receive comments from people you follow. This way you won't stop following her but you won't receive any messages from her on your timeline .

DIFFERENT CONTENT TO SILENCE ON TWEETBOT:

There are four ways to mute or unmute tweetbot:

– SILENCE USERS: By holding down the user's name or photo, some options will appear where we can mute or silence it. By pressing the « MUTE » option we will silence them for as long as we want (from one day to forever)

– SILENCE HASHTAGS: By holding down the HASHTAG that we want to silence, some options will appear where we can mute or silence it. By pressing the « MUTE » option we will silence them for as long as we want (from one day to forever)

– SILENCE CLIENTS: We can silence tweets issued from any Twitter client. For example, we can mute the tweets issued from the Twitter app, from Hootsuite , from TweetDeck .

To do this we must access the details of the tweet and keep pressing the option « VIA » until the option « MUTE « appears, which we will press. Muting a client will mute them forever, as it doesn't give us the option to select a time range.

If we select the « MUTE FILTERS » menu, click on « EDIT » and after that we click on the «+» option (which appears in the upper left part of the screen), if we click on the pop-up option « MUTE CLIENT «, a list of all the Twitter clients that we can silence will appear.

– SILENCE WORDS: We can also silence tweets that contain a specific word in Tweetbot. To do this, we must access the "MUTE FILTERS" option, which can be found in the two configurable buttons in the lower menu, characterized by a bullet and an "x" in the center.

Once in this menu, we will press the « EDIT « button, located in the upper right part of the screen, and then we will click on the «+» button that will be enabled in the upper left part. After this we will select the pop-up option « MUTE KEYWORD »

Now we will have to put the word we want to silence in the « KEYWORD « box. We can mute or silence the words we want. To do this we must fill in, for each one of them, the "MUTE KEYWORD" menu.

In our case we have put "ANDROID" and we have not selected the option "MUTE MENTIONS", which mutes the tweets that contain that word in the mentions made to us. Plus we've muted it for a month.

When we put the word to mute, the « MATCHING TWEETS » appear at the bottom, which are the tweets on our timeline that contain that word. In this case, out of 989 tweets that we have on our timeline, only 16 contain the word ANDROID. If we press the option, they will appear to us.

We hope with this tutorial, we have taught you how to get more out of this great Twitter client. The « MUTE » function (silence) is one of the most useful that we can use in Tweetbot. We recommend you put it into practice to filter tweets and information you receive from the people you follow.
