All of you who have updated to iOS 7 will surely be noticing that the battery consumption of the iPhone, iPad or iPod TOUCH is somewhat higher than what we had with iOS 6.

One of those responsible for this increase in battery consumption is a new option that is activated by default.

The new feature called BACKGROUND REFRESH, makes apps actually running in the background and not like previous versions of iOS were stuck and stopped , except those that used GPS, Voip or music. Now all the apps prepared to be able to update in the background, if we have this option activated, they will be active and if they suffer any type of update, they will update the content automatically without the need for us to intervene to do so.

EXAMPLE: Before, a news app was updated every time we entered it. Now, if we have it in the background and we have the function we are talking about activated, it will update itself and when we go back in, we will have the Time Line of the app fully updated and without having to wait for it to update, what? do you understand now?

Everything looks very nice, but this has a cost and the cost is increased battery consumption.

SOLUTION TO THE HIGH BATTERY CONSUMPTION OF YOUR IPHONE WITH IOS 7:

To avoid this high battery consumption, we must deactivate this option. If you are one of those who do not mind losing autonomy as long as you have all the background apps available and updated at the moment, do not deactivate it.

If you are one of those who prefers that the battery last as long as possible at the cost of not executing some good functions, like the one we are talking about, deactivate the option in the following path:

SETTINGS / GENERAL / BACKGROUND UPDATE

By deactivating the root option, we will save a lot of battery, but we also have the option of only activating the applications that we want to update in the background. The more apps activated, the less autonomy of the APPLE device .

In our case we have the function activated but it would only update the FRIENDS app.

For an app to work in the background, it must be programmed by the developer so that it can execute that function.

Without further ado, we hope we have helped you save battery life and let you know what this new iOS 7 feature is all about.
