Its headquarters are in Dublin, Ireland.

Arthur Andersen in the early 1950s conducted a feasibility study for General Electric at the Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, of a UNIVAC I computer and printer, believed to be the first commercial user of a computer in the US. Joseph Gluckauf, one of the pioneers of computer consulting, held the position of Arthur Andersen's Administrative Services Division.
On January 1, 2001, Andersen Consulting adopted its current name, “Accenture”. The name “Accenture” was introduced by Kim Petersen, a Danish employee at the company's Oslo, Norway office, as a result of internal competition. It is intended to be a high-performing global consulting leader, and also intended to be used in the context of Accenture.
