What is crouching? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

We say that a person crouches when he remains hidden or hidden with the intention of surprising someone. Of course, the crouching person is in this situation because he wants to prevent someone from seeing him or trying to do some criminal action, for example, a robbery or an assault.

This term means surprise factor. In the animal world, predators look for their prey to feed and for this they have to implement an effective strategy. The predator does not attack its prey directly but rather hides properly, that is, it remains semi-hidden and crouched until it finds the ideal opportunity to make the final attack. Use the surprise factor.

This strategy is carried out by the intervention of instinct, it is the natural mechanism that allows the survival of a species. From a behavioral point of view, animals remain crouched in various ways: through their body's camouflage, hidden at night so as not to be seen by their prey, or by mimicking the natural environment. We could say that the different ways of crouching in animals is what allows them to surprise their prey at the right time.

Human beings have instincts but they are less determinative than those possessed by animals. Therefore, we have a survival instinct like any other living being, but we can go against this instinct as a result of our personal convictions.

Human beings act effectively thanks to our intelligence and not through the intervention of instincts. Despite the differences between humans and animals, we also resort to the surprise factor in situations where there is some danger. If a thief wants you not to be caught, he has to camouflage himself in some way, as it is dangerous for others to see him. In his strategy, the thief crouches somewhere and, like animals, hides until it is time to execute his criminal action.

Within the field of culture, we find different works that use the term in their titles. This is the case, for example, of the book "A Crouching Man " by OC Tavin, or the novel "The Wild Horse Crouching Under the Stove." This last book is a work of the author Christoph Hein.
