What is love at first sight? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Love at first sight refers to a set of subconscious associations that form the brain of an individual and that lead to falling in love. It is a magical moment in which a feeling that is difficult to describe gets drunk. There are people who feel like butterflies in the stomach. We can be in a fleeting love.

Love at first sight is very easy to confuse with other types of feelings, because when you meet a person for the first time, many new feelings arise that are sometimes difficult to identify. It may be that the other person arouses a very great sexual appetite, but love at first sight does not consist of that, but of much more.

And that the person in front of you is completely unknown. Love at first sight or infatuation describes this moment, and the scientific community and academics disagree on whether this phenomenon exists or is rather an illusion. Be that as it may, many people report feeling this, even several times a day.

This infatuation reflects a reality of love: first impressions also influence falling in love, since a person may be attracted to someone's physical appearance, the color of their eyes or their facial beauty. This feeling of having met someone special arises from the projection of personal illusions on the other, that is, the other person seems to conform to that ideal dreamed by oneself.

However, only the time it takes to get to know the other person is when the lover can confirm if that infatuation was the beginning of a more solid feeling or, on the contrary, it can happen that gradually getting to know the other person. A disappointment. In this type of case, falling in love becomes a mirage, it is a fleeting illusion since nothing was what it could have been.

Although many people confuse it, a love at first sight is not exactly a platonic love. They may have some small points in common, but Plato's romantic idea refers to a perfect idea of love, not necessarily unrequited, that exceeds the limits of the carnal and involves great difficulty.

The idea of platonic love may have a connection to that of love at first sight in the fact that it seems extremely complicated that two people they just met end up consuming their passion. However, Plato's idea alluded to an absolutely pure and disinterested love, in which nothing in the material world had any weight, and in which the intellectual and moral aspects are the basis of common feeling.

Many people do not believe in love at first sight, but in general we can say that it does exist. Of course, you never know where you can find it. If you are lucky to find him, do not hesitate for a moment to take care of him, since you never know if that person will be the love of your life.
