The term anthology derives from the Greek "ἀνθολογία" composed of the voices "ἄνθος" or "anthos" which means "flowers" plus "λέγειν" or "legein" which means "choose". The famous dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy offers two possible meanings for the word anthology, where one of them states that it is a collection of selected pieces of literature, music, etc.; the other possible meaning is used to refer to those who are Worthy of being outstanding, extraordinary. Therefore, it can be said that the word refers to a compilation represented by a series of fragments of literary, scientific, musical works, among others, that may belong to one or more authors, selected for a particular purpose.
In other words, the anthology is the selection of important, outstanding or relevant works or writings; made with a specific reason, concerning someone or something in particular, from literary, musical, cinematographic writings, etc. object that gives readers the valuable opportunity to have pieces of considerable individual value in a single collection.
An anthology referring to the literary context, would include a collection of writings related to one or more authors; For its part, the poetic anthology is very common, which includes a series of poems in it, however, other genres can also be found, such as essays, fables or stories.
These collections can be of a literary, thematic or personal and arbitrary nature, where each fragment must include: the name of the author at the end of the fragment, title of the work and the selected part, the word fragment at the beginning of the selected text and must be specified the genre to which the literary fragment belongs.
