The term application comes from the Latin "applicatĭo", "aplicatiōnis" lexically composed with the prefix "ad" equivalent to "towards", plus the voice "plicare" which means "to fold" or "make folds" and the suffix "cion" of action and effect; therefore, according to its etymology, it can be said that the word application refers to the action and effect of applying or applying. This is a word that can have several uses or meanings; and it can refer to the positioning or placement of something in particular on another or making contact with it. One of the most prominent uses for application today resides in computing where it is a program created for a specific use.
This type of computer application is a software that enables users interested in technology to carry out different types of work through it. As for example we can mention the different word processors, spreadsheets among others. The applications were created based on the needs, be they work, leisure or other, of the users, thus facilitating the performance of the different tasks that they face every day.
At present, along with the use of mobile devices, the concept of application has been expanding, thanks to the large number of devices that allow its use.
On the other hand in mathematics, application is the correspondence between two sets. Here in the field of mathematics we can get different types of application, such as: bijective application, affine application, injective application, inverse, continuous, etc.
