It is called "coven" to the group of people who meet in order to cast spells and worship the various deities of pagan religions. In Christianity, they are often associated with devil- worship circles or demonic figures, as well as malevolent intentions. In popular culture, however, all neo-pagan gatherings are called that, which come together to perform rituals and spells; likewise, it is a widely used resource in science fiction. In the same way, they are also called sabbats, although this term is much more oriented to the discrimination of the Jews.
Originally, the Sabbath is a holy day in the Jewish religion, in which the rest of the parishioners is required; This was misinterpreted by the Christian movement, claiming that on this holiday the Jews dedicated themselves to the worship of satanic figures and the invocation of Satan, in order to generate discontent towards people who were in some way related to Jewish practices, based in the contempt of the doctrinal bases of said religion. For its part, the word coven comes from "aker" (male goat) and "larre" (meadow), that is, "male goat meadow"; That is why it is usually associated with the malignant presence of a blackish goat, with a macabre appearance.
In a satanic coven, a series of stages are experienced, these being: the summons, where the spells that will attract the demon are pronounced; the homage to the devil, in which an offering is made or danced; the black mass and the orgy, where the Christian mass was replicated and, later, the witches proceeded to unite sexually, with the participation of the Devil, regardless of their sex; Finally, a banquet was held, where the sorcerers ate part of other sorcerers already dead or the victims of their evil spells.
