Archivology does not belong only to the humanistic or social sciences but has also developed towards the mathematical, natural and technical sciences. Archivology as an information discipline is part of the set in which the documented information is the common thread. Archives are as old as the organization of society.

It is distinguished by the fact on which the file focuses its activity. It is contemporary with library science. In its origins, there was no difference between archive and library.

Archivology studied archival activity, specifically the various theoretical problems, historical and methodological documents relating to the funding of files, as well as the methods, resources and techniques used in the activity. Archival science is the science that deals with archives in the theoretical and practical aspects, establishing unalterable principles and studying adequate techniques of document management, administration and technical treatment of archives, as well as their legal, administrative and scientific function.. The objective of the study is the treatment of a certain type of documents, organized in such a way that they allow knowing and reflecting the origin, evolution and statecurrent sources that generate them, in order to offer services based on their accumulation. However, the ideas we have about them today, the archival systems themselves, and the theoretical formulations they address are a direct consequence of development.
