Asia is the largest continent on planet earth, that is, the one with the largest territorial extension, occupying a third of planet Earth with around 44 million km², which represents 8.70% of the total land area and the 29.45% of the emerged lands; populated by three fifths of the world's population, there are 4,200,000,000 inhabitants. Asia is located in the Eastern Hemisphere, Eastern Europe and also in the Northern Hemisphere, between the equatorial line in the South and 77º North latitude; that limits by the North with the Arctic Ocean; to the South with the Indian Ocean; to the East with the Pacific Ocean and to the West it joins with Europe through the Ural Mountains, Caucasus, as well as the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.

Asia is home to 44 countries, and this continent is divided as follows: in five regions, first we find Russian Central Asia, with Siberia, Central-Western Asia and the Caucasus; then there is Southeast Asia, which includes the Indochina peninsula and the Indonesian and Philippine archipelagos; then we find Southwest Asia, which ranges from Afghanistan to the countries of the Middle East; there is also East Asia, which includes China, Tibet, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea and Japan and finally South Asia, which includes the Indian Peninsula to the Himalayas.

In Asia we can come across impressive types of reliefs such as the Himalayas, the Pamirs or the Caucasus, as well as mighty rivers, and dense tropical jungles and Mediterranean-type forests. Regarding the climate, in this continent there are different types of climates or almost all of them, for example the humid continental climate in China, North and South Korea, and in Japan; the dry subtropical climate in the Middle East, Iraq, inland Turkey; the dry tropical climate in the Arabian desert, Iran; mountain climates at altitudes above 5,000 meters in the Himalayas, all of southern Tibet; the dry climate of the middle latitudes south of Siberia, Mongolia, northern and central China, and just like these there are many other types of climate.
