The Autism is a disorder complex neurological character that affects an individual 's lifetime. In addition, it is part of the group of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD in English). This condition affects communication, imagination, planning and the emotionality of the sufferer.
The causes of autism are often unknown, although changes or mutations in the genes are believed to generate it. It should be noted that not all the genes involved in the formation of the disease have been identified. Pregnant women who are exposed to certain infections or substances can cause the fetus to present neurological malformations that, at the time of birth, manifest with alterations such as the Autism Spectrum. It is normally formally diagnosed at the age of 3 years, but is currently being performed at 6 months.
There are some types of autism, ranging from the mildest to the most severe. The Asperger syndrome is a development deficit characterized by not being able to interpret other people's emotions, ie, body language provided by the environment; it is a fairly mild form of autism. The Rett syndrome is a condition that deals with delays in the development and acquisition of the leguaje and motor coordination. The disorder child disintegration is the condition in which the behavior becomes regressive properly developed; the affected person loses the ability to relate to other people, interest in objects and presentation of stereotypies and mannerisms.
The symptoms are usually a lack of social interaction. People have alterations in their language and it is difficult for them to relate to individuals of the same age; in addition, they almost never have visual or physical contact and avoid it. They do not respond when called by name. They laugh or cry for no reason, don't tolerate frustration very well, and can be very hyperactive or passive.
There is no specific treatment that will definitively cure autism. What is recommended is the Applied Behavioral Analysis, it has been shown that, carried out early and increasing its difficulty, children show improvements, such as learning to read, write and speak, but this if each student is individualized. With intensive courses done on time, diagnosed children could improve their quality of life.
Currently, 1 in 63 children is diagnosed with autism. This disease is more common than AIDS in young children. Therefore, the knowledge that is promoted in society for the easy understanding of this disease is necessary and very important.
