Anonim

Autonomy comes from the Latin word auto which means "oneself" and nomos means "norm", this indicates that autonomy is the ability of a person or entity to establish their own rules and abide by them when making decisions. In psychology, autonomy is described as the ability of an individual to feel, think and make decisions for himself. This concept encompasses a series of characteristics and elements relating to personal self-management. Among these elements we have self-esteem, a positive attitude towards life, the correct analysis of social norms and self-reliance.

When we speak of personal autonomy we refer to the right that each individual has to make their own decisions in every aspect of their daily life. In addition to that, the person is aware of what is correct or not and therefore must assume the consequences of what he has decided.

The autonomy of the will refers to certain legal aspects, that is, it is the ability that people have to freely regulate their interests, according to those important aspects of the individual's daily life, this autonomy implies two types of norms, the operative and imperative (mandatory standards).

Finally, we find the term university autonomy, which is accepted by many countries and consists of having a political and administrative independence from a public university in relation to external factors. The university autonomy chooses its own regulations and study programs without any interference from political power.
