In the Catholic religion, the Ave Maria or Ave Maria is a prayer dedicated to the mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary; likewise, the religious canticle inspired by the same prayer is taken into account, which has several versions composed by different authors. The first is, like most of the prayers used in the Catholic religion and the like, a short praise to the Mother of God, who is also asked for mercy.
The phrase of praise, for its part, is a fragment extracted from the Gospel according to Saint Luke, specifically in the announcement of the birth of Jesus given by the archangel Gabriel to Mary, where he shouts the words: “Rejoice! full of grace, the Lord is with you ” , this being the first part of the prayer that can be heard; in the same way, it includes the story of the young woman's visit to her cousin, Isabel, who tells her: "You are blessed among all women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!" Finally, the intercession of the saint is requested, through the words: “Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen ” .
The song "Ave Maria" was one of the most precious when it came to composing songs with a religious tinge in medieval and Renaissance times. Franz Schubert was the man who was lucky enough to be the composer behind the most famous version, like Vladimir Vavilov and Tomás Luis de Victoria, who are the writers of other adaptations that are a little more recognized among all the known ones.
