Poultry farming is nothing more than the job of caring for and raising birds as pets. Poultry farming not only focuses on the breeding of birds but also on protecting their habitat, which is called as the space in which the appropriate conditions meet so that this genus or animal race can live and reproduce, lasting in its appearance as well as in awareness campaigns and in the mechanisms to avoid their extinction.

The term has its origin in the Latin "avis", whose meaning is bird and culture. It is a type of procedure in which a person or a population is dedicated to raising and commercially exploiting the birds. When talking about these types of animals, not only chickens are covered, but also turkeys, chickens, quail, ducks and other species that can give food or simply be raised without problems in a house or farm (including also the wild-type species).
But, it is necessary to mention the fact that, although in this activity different types of birds can be raised, the ones that generate more importance in the market are hens, chickens and their derivatives, in fact, the breeding of both birds is part of the most important agricultural activities in the world, even special technology and a poultry veterinarian are used.
There are many countries in which this activity is carried out, including poultry in Bolivia and poultry in Mexico. But in order to preserve the life of the species, avoid their extinction and continue with the breeding of birds, poultry biosecurity has also been implemented.
Types of poultry
This activity is classified into 3 main types that will be explained below.
Traditional poultry
It is about raising birds on farms or in houses, with more natural methods and with less industrial equipment. The animals can be in the open field without problems. The advantage is that large amounts of money are not used for breeding, but the profits are minimal because there are not enough animals or technology for their reproduction.
Industrial poultry
In this aspect, the exploitation of birds is more noticeable and is part of the commercial business. The advantage is that profits multiply very quickly, but money must be invested in land, technology, etc.
Alternative poultry
In this aspect, not only the production of chicken eggs or chicken production is taken into account, but it also focuses on having yields and structures so that they can be dedicated to the breeding and exploitation of other kinds of birds, in this way, work and earnings are improved.
Branches of poultry
To raise birds it is necessary to know that there is an important classification, this is because there are some branches of poultry farming, for example those that will be explained below.
Numidiculture
It is a branch whose main characteristics are based on the use, care, breeding and exploitation of guinean chickens, which are known around the world as guinea fowl. These chickens come from Africa and their diet varies between seeds and insects, in addition, their individualistic characteristic is that their head does not have feathers, but the rest of the body has a wide gray plumage with decorations of white dots.
Meleagriculture
Their main occupation is to care for, take advantage of, exploit and raise turkeys and their derivatives, for example, the meat and eggs of that bird.
Gallinoculture
This aspect talks about the raising and care of chickens, as well as the exploitation of poultry eggs, meat and feathers.
Canariculture
Here domestic canaries are bred and cared for, so that their extinction can be avoided.
Coturniculture
It is about the production, breeding, use and care of quail birds and, as well as taking care of them, their derivatives are used, including meat, quail, poultry eggs, etc.
Anaculture
In this aspect, those domestic type ducks are raised and cared for, in fact, there is variability in the production of human food with the source of this bird due to its proteins that both eggs and duck meat have.
Colombiculture
It is nothing more than an activity through which pigeons are harnessed and raised so that they can produce from eggs to meat to be finally commercialized.
Strutiocultura
Ostriches are raised here in order to increase the economy and their breed. This aspect is quite common in poultry farming in Mexico.
Importance of poultry
It is important throughout the world because it represents the care of different types of birds, as well as their use (economically, of course) and their reproduction, so that they can produce poultry products such as eggs, feathers (quite common for jewelry and any other type of school activity) and meat for human consumption.
This is also important because thanks to it, birds can be collected to turn them into pets and domesticate them without problems.
This activity is as famous and important as livestock and a good part of the world economy is due to it. The practice and promotion of poultry farming is part of the labor and economic sector around the world, in fact, there are many poultry photos that prove the scope that this production has in various sectors of the world.
