What is ballet? »Its definition and meaning

Anonim

Ballet constitutes one of the best-known dance techniques worldwide, having a development that spanned decades and decades, until it became what it is today. The word comes from the Italian word "balletto", the diminutive of "ballo", however, for Spanish it is recognized as a French voice. Depending on the country where this expression of art is appreciated, it can vary, since the currents have modified and influenced it in an important way, as well as the culture of the country where it is found. Contrary to what is believed, ballet not only includes dance, it also includes other elements, such as mimicry and acting, which gives it the histrionics that this movement represents.

This discipline is characterized by being very arduous, so it is recommended that practitioners start from an early age, from five to eight years old. The reason for this is that, because the muscular coordination on stage must be perfect and harmonious, the training must be continuous, so that over the years the techniques improve and the presentations are clean.

The beginnings of ballet go back to the Renaissance period, as a form of corporal expression, in Italy. But, it was in France where the first dance academy was developed, as well as one of the first manuals, which covered all the pirouettes that had to be performed, with the necessary techniques to do them. Starting from them, in the first half of the 20th century, new techniques began to be created, which were the fruits of the fusion of traditions developed by countries other than France, derivations that remain today.
