The word handball, also known as handball, is originally from Germany. It is a modern sport and the youngest in those that are played with the ball. The origin of handball dates back to Greece, where a sport called Ukraine was practiced, which Homer described very well in the Odyssey. In 1890 a gymnastics instructor Konrad Koch created a game similar to handball called Raffaballspied. But, it was in the middle of the world war that it became more popular thanks to some Germans named Hirschman and Schelenz, with rules very similar to handball today.

Then, in Halle in 1925 the first international game between Germany and Austria took place. In the first Olympics that this sporting discipline was played, it was Berlin in 1936 with eleven players per team. At present, handball is a very popular sport in the countries of: France, Poland, Spain, Germany, the Dominican Republic, Croatia, Venezuela, Denmark, Brazil, Iceland, Argentina, among others.

Regarding the field where handball takes place, the field measures 40 meters long by 20 meters wide and the archery measures 3 meters wide by 2 meters long.
