In the context of telecommunications, the term broadband refers to the network (regardless of the type) that has a high capacity for transferring information, which incurs the speed of its transmission. It can then be said that it is the sending of symmetric data by which several parts of the information are transferred in parallel, in order to increase the real transmission speed. The definition of broadband is not a strictly static concept, since Internet access speeds are continually increasing. These speeds are measured by bits per second, for example megabits per second (Mbit / s).
The minimum speed required to be considered as broadband may vary between countries, hence the authorities may consider a value as broadband in a country, while the operator stipulates a different value. This is why a way has been designed to be able to determine the real value of what should be broadband, this is achieved based on the services that can be accessed, for example in the quality of the audio, in the speed of download network files and interactive voice service.
In addition to this, it can be awarded other characteristics such as digitization and excellent connectivity.
In some laws, access to information technologies is a right and having the possibility of accessing the internet with broadband is also important. In Mexico there is a program called “Connected Mexico” which seeks to ensure that the broadband connection in public places has a sufficient reach to satisfy demand.
