The supply chain is the name given to all the steps involved in the preparation and distribution of an item for sale, that is, it is the process that is responsible for planning or coordinating the tasks to be accomplished, in order to carry out the search, obtaining and transformation of different elements, in this way to be able to market a product so that it is easily accessible to the public.
When it is said that it covers all processes, they are directly and indirectly involved, the supply chain is basically made up of suppliers (which can be classified into three levels), warehouses, the line being produced, the different channels by which transits, the sale to the wholesalers, the sale to the retailers and so on until the product reaches the hands of the end customer.
The supply chain cannot always be executed in the same way, its methodology will depend on the company on which it works, in this way three types of companies can be classified: industrial companies, being of a large production the The logistics implemented for its supply chain are more complex, depending on the warehouses that are available, the line of products they manufacture and the classification they have in the markets; the trading companiesThey have a less elaborate supply chain, since they only have to receive and re-transport the product to the places of commerce; Service companies have an even shorter and simpler supply chain, as they transport the product from the marketers to the end customer.
A common supply chain begins its process by making an evaluative analysis of the product to be supplied, emphasizing the biological and ecological characteristics of the resources that nature offers necessary for its manufacture, followed by an extraction of the raw material to be used. Following this, manufacturing is done, storage is planned, then distribution, and finally the chain ends with the consumption of the product; an error in any of the steps will cause a chain effect in the other steps to follow.
